Message from AIT President: 15 Sept. 2017

Prof Zhang Wei left AIT after having spent five humble years as master's and doctoral student at AIT's School of Management (SOM); that was 17 years ago. Today he returned to the Institute as a powerful Chair of the Governing Board of three major universities in China.

Chairman Zhang led a five-member delegation from Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU) to AIT to sign an agreement on building an “International Community of Innovation and Entrepreneurship", aiming at sharing “Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) initiatives” between NPU and AIT. The two parties stressed the importance of I&E in an international environment and agreed to extend the invitation for other universities to join later.

“We believe the age of cooperation between AIT and NPU has just begun,” Chairman Zhang said. AIT and NPU will organize a joint workshop to encourage sharing of experiences of I&E among the communities of both universities. In addition, a unified Master's and Doctoral Degree Program will be established to recruit talented students from the region to study partly at AIT and partly in NPU, under RTG Scholarships for GMSARN and scholarships from China Scholarship Council (CSC) and from NPU directly.

My first visit to Chairman Zhang Wei was In 2015 when he was Governing Board Chair of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). Last year in 2016 I led a delegation to visit Chairman Zhang again while attending the Global Partners’ Week at NPU. This year, during September 21-27, I am scheduled to attend "the Belt and Road" University Presidents' Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education (UPFIEE), in Xi'an, among university presidents and vice presidents from over 100 domestic and foreign universities.

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), located in Xi'an was the gateway of the ancient 'silk road'. It was originally founded as an Institute of Science and Technology. Today, NPU is a key university in China’s 985 and 211 Projects, and also a member of the “Excellent Union 9 (E9)” of China.

The central focus of the AIT logo is the Asian continent, and the AIT logo aptly reflects this.
2. Please do not merge, mutilate, disfigure or use the logo in conjunction with extra text or logos. AIT logo is a standalone entity and it should be treated accordingly.
You can read the logo policy here: http://www.ait.ac.th/media/documents/Use_of_AIT_logo_guideline,_FINAL%20PAC-APPROVED.pdf
