(i) Invitation: AIT 60th Anniversary Celebrations, 23 - 25 October 2019

Dear AIT Faculty and Staff Members,

On October 23, 24 and 25, 2019, there will be a series of activities in Bangkok and on campus to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).  Distinguished university guests and AIT alumni from Thailand and overseas will join in the festivities.  We also cordially invite AIT faculty, staff and students to come celebrate with us!

Since its founding in 1959, AIT has dedicated itself to capacity building and social impact research and education, benefiting Asia and beyond.  On its 60th Anniversary, AIT is moving smartly forward with the motto of “Transforming AIT”, injecting more innovation, globalization, relevance, and entrepreneurship into our original mission.
Enclosed is the tentative schedule of the AIT 60th Anniversary Celebration on 23-25 October 2019.  Please note that attendance to the 24 October 2019 events is limited, and will be based on receipt of online confirmations at: https://forms.gle/YiUgq1dduDFmYQD19

Please note that the Gala dinner cost is 1000 Baht per person, but all other events are free.

(iii) Dr. Chuenchom Chueluecha (Rehabilitation Physician) will be on leave

Please be informed that the contractor will start the improvement work of exterior painting at the following five buildings. The work is scheduled from Monday, 23 September to Wednesday, 23 October 2019,

During this time there might be a loud noise, smell, and few areas may be closed due to the improvement work. As well, we request the residents living around that area and AIT community visiting AITCC to be careful, while you are passing by that area.

 (a) TOEIC Test: 18 Oct. 2019

AIT Career Center will organize TOEIC Test at AIT for August 2019 Semester is scheduled on 18 October 2019 (Friday) from 13:00 - 16:00 hrs at Room B-108, AIT Conference Center.

The TOEIC test questions are based on real-life work settings in an international environment (meetings, travel, telephone conversations, etc). The Test is used by organizations to determine whether an employee is suitable for a particular task. If you work or want to work for a large organization, particularly in Asia, then the TOEIC test will be useful to you.

The schedule of registration, payment method, confirmation of payment and TOEIC preparation course are given below:
 
·         Online Registration : 1 – 8 October 2019
·         Payment for TOEIC Test:  1 – 8 October 2019 (last day on 8 October, 15:00 hrs); Payment (by cash) at Career Center thru  Ms.Tiparatana , AIT Admin Building during office hours
·         18 October 2019 (Friday): TOEIC Test at Room B108, AITCC from 13:00 - 16:00 hrs
·         Price for students is 700 baht (from 1,500 baht) and for current AIT staff is 1,000 baht (from 1,500 baht).
·         A minimum of 30 students & staffs  is needed for this test to be administered in AIT.

(c) Blood Donation: 3 December 2019
Email from AIT Medical Center (17 Sept. 2019)

The Thai Red Cross Society has been working with volunteer students and staff to collect units of blood from the AIT community. The bloodmobile visits AIT every three months, four times a year, hoping to collect enough units to supply the constant demand for blood.

We again would like to ask for your help. The next visit for blood donation is scheduled on Tuesday, 3rd December 2019, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the parking lot in front of the AIT Conference Center.

Give blood! You'll experience a fulfilling sense of contribution. And the donation process isn't time-consuming. It only takes about half an hour.

On behalf of needy patients whose lives you may save, we would like to thank you very much for your time and support.

 (a) English writing courses (EL courses): 26 Aug. – 14 Nov. 2019

CLASSES: 26 August – 14 November 2019

Students with English scores below AIT’s admission requirements will be automatically enrolled in the mandatory English Language (EL) courses listed below. Students will need to pay a one-time registration fee of 5,000 Baht at the AIT Cashier for EL courses. The EL course level will be automatically assigned based on a student’s current English score:
5.0 - EL15 Intermediate English Composition
5.5 - EL19 Academic and Technical Writing

***English course fee: 5,000 Baht one-time flat fee to all newly enrolled students.***
The EL courses should be your first priority. Therefore scheduling problems and conflicts are not valid reasons to request to drop out of EL courses. To drop the course, you will need to submit a memo requesting the EL exemption on a semester basis. This memo will need to be approved by your advisor and submitted to the Language Center before 16 August 2019 (AIT adding/dropping date). If you fail to drop the EL course you are enrolled in before the 6th September, you will still be graded for the EL course you have enrolled.

As you have been informed during the orientation, AIT maintains a strict policy on English language requirements. Students who have not met the English language requirements by the third semester of study will not be allowed to register for thesis or research credits.

(b) Professional Training Program on Advanced Shrimp Farming: 3 – 10 Nov. 2019

"Advanced Shrimp Farming" is one week long professional training program, which has been designed to address not only the lack of know-how and issues with farming practices but also to meet the specific needs and requirements for the sustainable development of this venture in the region. (e) Biofloc Technology Training Program: 2 – 7 Dec. 2019

A Training Program on Biofloc Technology organized by Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Program of AIT will be held from 2 - 7 December 2019 at the AIT Conference Center.
