Handover ceremony of three Master’s degree scholarshi​ps from The Thai Pipe Industry Co., Ltd.

The Thai Pipe Industry Co., Ltd., Thailand, will provide scholarships for three master’s degree students from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar to be enrolled at AIT for the August 2015 intake. Each scholarship is valued at 752,000 Thai baht and includes full tuition and registration fees.

The scholarships will be presented by Dr. Yanyong Phataralaoha (IE&M’86), Managing Director, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Gantasiri Phataralaoha (ENVI’84) and two daughters  at the handover ceremony to be held on Tuesday, 16 December 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in Room 260, Administration Building.

 

Dr. Indrajit Pal joins AIT as Assistant Professor

Dr. Indrajit Pal has joined the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as Assistant Professor in the Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management (DPMM) program in the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD).

AIT International School updates

  • AITIS had the Term Ending exams for grades 4-6 from 8-10 December, 2014.
  • On Friday, December 12 the school celebrated its Sports Day.
  • AITIS will have the End of Semester break from 15 December 2014 to 2 January 2015. 
  • School re-opens on 5 January 2015 (Monday).

AIT’s 122nd Graduation Ceremony

AIT’s 122nd Graduation Ceremony will be held on 17 December 2014 at the AIT Conference Center, starting from 9:45 a.m.

The Graduation will be presided over by H.E. Dr. Subin Pinkayan, Chairman of AIT Board of Trustees and AIT President Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai.

Mr. Hiroyuki Konuma, FAO Assistant Director – General and the Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific, will deliver the Graduation Address.

Mr. Ananda Dias, a prominent AIT alumnus who is Regional Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific Environmental Assessment and Early –Warning, United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), will deliver the Alumni Address.

 

‘Wireless Sensor Networks Workshop’ by intERLab

The Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab) will conduct a 5-day “Wireless Sensor Networks Workshop” on 15-19 December 2014 in partnership with the Network Start-up Resource Centre (NSRC), USA, and International Centre for Theoretical Physics.

The workshop is a hands-on look into Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), and into the Arduino platform in particular. It will give participants the opportunity to build their own WSN by sending data using different wireless technologies and by storing measurements in a database.

Let’s join “United AIT, Towards the Future” Year-End Party on Friday, December 19

 AIT’s Year-End Party under the theme, "United AIT, Towards the Future" for all AIT employees (faculty and staff members) will be held on Friday, 19 December 2014, starting from 8 a.m. at the area beside the Administration Building.

During the celebration, all AIT employees will be separated into 4 teams representing 4 colors to play various kinds of games (Tug-of-war, Musical Chairs, Hula Your Way, Centipede Run, and Balloon Stomp) at the football field behind the Administration Building. In addition, we will have a Cheerleader Contest. To win the prize, each Cheerleader Team is required to have creativity of clothes and performance.

Tentative program:

17 – 18 December - T-shirt collection at the Human Resources Office

19 December

8:00 a.m.     - All AIT employees gather in the small football field

11:00 a.m.    - Registration for the raffle draws and lunch

12:00          - Lunch

Lucky draw and awarding of prizes will be given during lunch.

So come one come all, let us all join hands and cheer one another, for on this day fun and surprises will be on your way!
