Campus Notes

New Chinese Course

The AIT Language Center will organize a new Chinese course titled “Basic Chinese Language Conversation” lasting from 11 November - 18 December 2014 (Total 12 classes), on every Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:30-6:00pm.

The course is on discount at 750 baht only due to generous support of the Chinese Government through the Confucius Institute.  (Sorry no refunds.)

Minimum: 15 persons, Maximum: 20 persons

Interested persons please register at LC Room 216, 2nd Floor of the Library Bldg.

New Issuance of Vehicle Stickers

Due to security reasons, the Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM) requests all AIT students, faculty, staff, residents and tenants to avail of new vehicle stickers to ensure easy access to the AIT Campus compound in which no exchange of ID is needed at the gate. Please be informed that the old stickers will be valid only until 31December 2014.

Procedure to avail new stickers:

A. Pay for the stickers at the AIT Cashier – 20 Baht per sticker.

B. Register at the Security Guard House AIT Gate 1 Entrance with: (1) a copy of ID (original ID should be presented for verification), (2) a copy of vehicle registration, and (3) a copy of receipt paid at AIT Cashier.

Stickers will be available at the Security Guard House, starting from 29 Oct 2014.

SU Snack Bar to Re-open November 10th

According to OFAM, the SU Snack Bar will be opened on the November 10, 2014.  In order to accommodate the request of the AIT Campus Sustainability Club to improve on the air quality, the additional adjustment of the vendor’s shop area requires extension of the timeline. Please note that SU Snack Bar and SU Beverage are temporarily housed at the AIT Cafeteria.

Events

The Global Resilience Challenge Discussion Meeting

The Sponsored and Contracted Projects Unit (SCPU) invites interested faculty and staff members for a discussion meeting on “The Global Resilience Challenge” to plan further actions for the submission of the Pre Proposal. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, 4 November 2014, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Board Room, Administration Bldg. The deadline of the Stage 1 application has been extended to 30 November 2014.

AIT Career Fair: Wednesday, November 5

AIT Career Fair will be organized on Wednesday, 5 November 2014 from 9:00-17:00 hours at the AIT Conference Center. Organized by AIT’s Career Center, the event will offer job placements, internship opportunities, and networking opportunities.

Third AIT Staff Meeting: Wednesday, November 5

Dr. Jonathan Shaw, AIT Staff Representative, invites all AIT staff members to join the third staff meeting of 2014, which will be held on Wednesday, November 5 from 13:00 hrs to 14:30 hrs in the Milton E. Bender Auditorium.

International Food Fair: Friday, November 7

On Friday, 7 November 2014, the Student Union will organize the annual international food fair for the campus. The event will start around 11 a.m. at the patio area of the AIT pond next to the AIT Administration Building.
