7) Update on Heavy Rainfall and Campus Conditions
Email from Director, OFAM on 26 September 2026
As you may be aware, Thailand has recently experienced heavy rainfall, particularly in the Central Plains, eastern and upper southern regions, including Bangkok and surrounding areas. Several locations have reported flooding due to accumulated rainfall, including Rangsit, Pathum Thani, central and eastern Bangkok, Bangna, Suvarnabhumi Airport, and Samut Prakan.
The flooding situation in some areas may continue for the next few days, depending on local drainage systems and pumping capacity. However, once the heavy rainfall subsides, conditions are expected to gradually improve. According to the Thai Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected to continue during 26–27 September, with rainfall expected to decrease from Monday, 28 September, which should help improve the situation.
Update on AIT Campus
We are closely monitoring the water level in the campus canal, which is currently near capacity. Our pumps are operating to discharge water into Khlong Nueng, on the opposite side of the main highway. There may be some localized water accumulation in certain areas of the campus; however, our teams are monitoring the situation closely and are taking necessary measures to manage the water level.
At this stage, there is no indication of a major flooding situation affecting the campus. Nevertheless, we will continue to monitor the weather and water levels closely and take appropriate action as necessary.
Please Stay Safe
Please stay safe and patient during this period. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates if necessary.
