It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Khun Benjarat Arbhabhirama, beloved wife of Dr. Anat Arbhabhirama, Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees.

 

The religious rites and ceremonies, to be held at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat Woramahawihan (Bangkhen) from 29 July to 3 August 2025.

 

Please note that AIT will host the ceremony on 31 July 2025.

 

3) Passing of the mother of Mr Shawn Kelly, Executive Director, OIPA

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Maureen Ann Kelly, the beloved mother of Mr. Shawn Patrick Kelly, Executive Director of the Office of International and Public Affairs. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on July 22, 2025, in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

The AIT family extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Mr Kelly and his family during this time of bereavement.

 

4) 4th International Joint Seminar on "One Health One World"

We would like to invite your students to participate in the 4th International Joint Student S4) minar on ONE HEALTH, ONE WORLD (OHOW), as an audience. This seminar jointly organized by the RNUS office (affiliated to Structural Engineering, AIT), and OHOW (Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo). 
The concept of this student seminar is comprehensive science of human and animal health, and their shared environment in addition to civil engineering and infrastructure related research, which is a kind of transdisciplinary approach that recognizes the interconnectedness. 
 
The seminar is student-centered activity for sharing the research idea among the participating students and for strengthening the friendship between the participating Asian Universities.

6) New P&P on Conflict of Interest (PA-2-2-1)

On the endorsement of the AIT Strategy Team, the President approved the following new Institute Policy and Procedure (P&P) Statement with immediate effect.
PA-2-2-1 Conflict of Interest
  ** For AIT to uphold integrity, transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in all activities undertaken by its employees, this new P&P prevents conflicts of interest that could compromise fairness, institutional reputation, or academic and administrative duties of Institute employees. 
   ** This policy applies to all employees and any other individuals engaged in both internal and external activities on behalf of the Institute. 
   ** A conflict of interest arises in a situation where financial or other personal or professional considerations compromise, or have the potential to compromise, an individual’s objectivity, professional judgment, professional integrity, and/or ability to perform their responsibilities to the Institute.
 
With the implementation of this new policy, all employees are required to confirm their compliance and update it annually (refer to item V.A. and Annex A)Additionally, all employees must complete the Conflict of Interest Disclosure (refer to item V.B. and Annex B) within 30 calendar days of this announcement or their employment start date, and annually thereafter, or within the specified periods outlined in Item V.B.

8) Healthcare Privileges with Partner Hospitals for AIT Employees & Dependents

We are glad to announce the following privileges for AIT employees and their dependents from the following hospitals: 
 
1. Pat Rangsit Hospital (Link)
        a) 10% discount for selected medicines and rooms for inpatient treatment (when hospitalized)
        b) 10% for selected medicines for outpatient treatment
**This discount does not cover dental fees, childbirth costs, alternative medicine, acupuncture, manual therapy massage, and vaccines.**
 
2. B-Care Hospital (Link)
        a)  20% discount for rooms for inpatient treatment (when hospitalized)
        b)  10% discount for selected medicines for outpatient treatment 
        c)  10% discount on general dental costs (scaling, tooth filling, and extraction).  
        d)  Members of the Social Security can use the dental benefit provided by SS at the maximum coverage of Baht 900 per year.  
        e)  For the treatment of any sickness or work-related accident, the SS member can avail of the workmen's compensation coverage up to a maximum of 50,000 Baht.  To
              claim the workmen's compensation at B-Care Hospital, the SS member should request the confirmation letter from OHRS to be provided to the hospital. 
 
3. Bumrungrad International Hospital (Link
        a) 15% discount on cash payments; 10% discount for credit card payments
         b) 10% discount on dental treatment (excluding orthodontics)

          *Discount applicable towards inpatient rooms, medication, certain laboratory fees, certain medical supply fees, and standard imaging-excludes doctor's fees, chemotherapy, and other specialized 

           test/procedures/medicines. 
          *Discounts cannot be used in conjunction with other discount vouchers, promotion or packages.
 
4. Paolo Rangsit Hospital (Link)

To avail of these privileges, please present your AIT ID card and either your passport or Thai ID card at the hospital's counter service before your consultation with the doctor. Please continue to use your AIA insurance card; the privilege discount will apply only to the amount exceeding your insurance coverage.

2) International Training Course on Pump Application for Sewage and Drainage System

RATIONALE

Along with development related to human life, pumping equipment often plays an indispensable role in various infrastructures and industries. In order to maintain sustainable human life with less environmental impact, it is indispensable to apply modernized turbo pump technologies with the appropriate knowledge about the applications and products. In the field of various industries and infrastructures, various kinds of pumps are utilized for transferring various liquids. It is beneficial to acquire the technologies of the fundamentals and applications of pumps.

OBJECTIVES

The seminar is intended to transfer the knowledge of fundamental pump application engineering and products for the sewage and drainage systems. In view of more useful knowledge in practical work, the program consists of site visits.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

A total number of approximately 40 will be invited from government agencies and the public sectors, industrial sectors, consulting firms, and institutions related to pump engineering. To participate in this course, the applicant should take into account his/her academic qualifications, professional experience, and the likely benefit of the course to the applicant and affiliated organization. Proficiency in the English language is essential. Limited numbers of scholarships from the EBARA Hatakeyama Memorial Fund, which covers tuition fees and accommodation for foreigners, will be offered to qualified applicants from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia, and Vietnam. 

The International/Domestic travel to and from Bangkok and per diem shall be borne by each applicant.

Applicants who participate for the first time will take precedence if the applicant exceeds capacity.

3) Call for Abstract  “Technological Advancement and Social Innovation for Rural and Agricultural Resilience”

The 2025 AGLE conference on “Technological Advancement and Social Innovation for Rural and Agricultural Resilience” will be held from 5-8 November 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference will include two days of presentations and poster sessions and two days of field trips to rural Thailand.

This scientific event aims to promote the convergence of scientific knowledge and practical innovation, technological development, and applications for sustainability and resilience. The conference organized by IGU Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering (AGLE) in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

The conference will feature high-level, inclusive, evidence-based discussions on the current challenges and priorities related to advancing innovation and technology for long-term rural sustainability, with a focus on contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event offers a valuable opportunity for both early stage and established researchers and practitioners, to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and engage with globally renowned experts in the field. It also provides a platform to enhance participants’ expertise and professional recognition in rural sustainability. The conference fosters cooperation and strengthens collaborative efforts to address rural challenges and promote sustainable development through innovative solutions.

2025 11th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Automation Science (ICMEAS 2025) will be held in Bangkok, Thailand during December 11-14, 2025, which is organized by Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers (HKSME), sponsored by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Nanjing Technology and Innovation Research Institute, supported by Guidance, Navigation and Control.
