(i)    Promotion of Dr. Djoen San Santoso to the Rank of Associate Professor

Dear Members of the AIT Community,
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Djoen San Santoso to the rank of Associate Professor in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET). I have approved the promotion of Dr. Santoso taking into account the recommendations of the Faculty Evaluation Panel (FEP) and the SET Faculty Evaluation Committee.
Dr. Santoso was appointed at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Technology in December 2011. Prior to joining AIT, he was holding the position of Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering in Saitama University, Japan (December 2008 – November 2011).

Dr. Santoso obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (major in Infrastructure Management and Transportation Planning) from Saitama University, Japan in September 2005 and his master’s degree in Civil Engineering (major in Construction Engineering and Management) at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand in April 1999. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia in July 1995.

Dr. Santoso’s research encompasses the areas of infrastructure planning and policy, asset management, risk management, public-private partnerships, sustainable transportation in developing countries, public transportation, and non-motorized transportation.

(ii)    Reminder: Webmasters of individual AIT websites

Dear Faculty and Staff members,

Besides the main website, AIT also hosts a number of individual websites for its schools, offices, units and projects etc.

We need to designate a webmaster to each of these individual websites.

The webmaster will be responsible for the website's content and maintenance, and s/he will ensure that it is updated regularly. Individual RC/SC/Office/Unit can depute and authorize an individual who will act as the webmaster.

Enclosed is the Google Sheet with a list of various AIT websites. Kindly add the name and email of the individual in this sheet.

(iii)    Direction for filling Time and Attendance Report
Email from interim Director- OHRS (21 Feb. 2018)

To comply with the guidance of the Internal Auditing Team, the new Time and Attendance Report has been made to facilitate legalization of payment on AIT employees' salaries and benefits. The legitimate payment of salaries and benefits have to be recorded and maintained in line with the Thai Labor Protection Law and the Thai Civil Code.

This Subject Report has to be done by each non- supervisory staff and to be approved by his /her immediate supervisors together with the Dean and or the Unit Head.

As the matter of trust, all supervisory positions are exempted.

In the report is divided into 3 parts, namely DATE,  OVERTIME and LEAVE .
The date starts with 21 to 20 of the following month. In a case of overtime may be required, please indicate it on the block of OVERTIME.

Whilst, the block of LEAVE is indicating types of leave of employees to be reported to their immediate supervisors and to be on- time of leave administration for OHRS.

(iv)    Final Development : Attendance Report and it descriptions

Please note that we will process payment just only employees who return the attendance report to OHRS on conditions as indicated below:

1.  Effective date is from 16 March - 15 April 2018 (to be filled in the form )

2.  Return this subject form to OHRS, not later than 17th of each month.

3. Direct supervisory position should delegate authority for signing the Attendance Report during his / her absent.

4. Staff of grade 1 to grade 7 are required to fill this Attendance Report.

5. All types of leave forms can submit to OHRS on regular basis.

AIT Library has extended the library hours to one o'clock in the morning during the mid-semester exams from 15-28 February 2018.  The Library hours will be as follows.

(vi)Team Sports Registrations - Mini Olympics Jan 2018

We are delighted to inform you that we have opened the registration forms for Team Sports during Mini Olympics.

Names of the team sports are as follows:

    Tug of War - Women's
    Volleyball

If you want to represent your country in aforementioned sports, please contact your country head or sports coordinator of your country. Registrations of team sports will only be done through country heads and sports coordinators.

For teams with mixed nationalities can be register under the category of 'International'. Captain of this team can fill the registration form.

For the registration of the team, only the captains details will be required. Full squad should be finalized and presented to the coordinator for the respective during the captain's meeting. We will soon announce the date and the schedule of the captain's meeting.

Deadline for the team sport registrations is 3rd of March 2018.

(viii) Competition with Vinci Construction for Civil Engineering Students

(a)    AITIS Fun and Food Fair

We are pleased to invite you to this year’s AITIS Fun and Food Fair which will be held on Wednesday, 28 February 2018. This fair will be a fun day where children and adults will enjoy international cuisine, fun games / activities, stage performances and much more. It is a fundraising event for AITIS, organized by the parents in coordination with the school. The money raised during the fair will be used for various future projects that would benefit the school and all our children.
This year, we have two major zones – the International Food Zone with delicious foods from around the world and a Fun Activity Zone that will include fun interactive games and other activities. In addition to this, we will have Creative Stage Performances from children, teachers and parents to entertain everybody; and our Exciting Raffle Draw, where all stand a chance to win awesome prizes.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!!

(b)     Blood Donation Announcement: 7 Mar. 2018

The Thai Red Cross Society has been working with volunteer students and staff to collect units of blood from the AIT community. The bloodmobile visits AIT every three months, four times a year, hoping to collect enough units to supply the constant demand for blood.
We again would like to ask for your help. The next visit for blood donation is scheduled on Wednesday, 7th March 2018, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the parking lot in front of the AIT Conference Center.

Give blood! You'll experience a fulfilling sense of contribution. And the donation process isn't time-consuming. It only takes about half an hour.
On behalf of needy patients whose lives you may save, we would like to thank you very much for your time and support.

(a)    7th Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering

Seismic Resilience for Safer Cities and Infrastructures: 22-25 Nov 2018
Urbanization is one of the major global challenges of this era. To address the issues related to safety of cities and infrastructure, the 7th Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering (7ACEE 2018) is being jointly organized by AIT and Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) in collaboration with the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines Inc. (ASEP), from 22 – 25 November 2018 in Bangkok.

Engineers, architects, professionals, students, institutes, universities, and organizations are invited to submit abstracts and share their experience under the theme Seismic Resilience for Safer Cities. Download Abstract Template

(i)    New AITCC Annex & renovation of car park near Arcade

A new AITCC Annex building will be constructed opposite to AIT swimming Pool/AIT Solutions. The construction work will start from 1 October 2017 and expected to be completed by April 2018. To prepare the area for construction, the car park area opposite to swimming pool/AIT Solutions will be demolished partially and a new sewage line will be laid from Arcade area.

During the process of this work, the area will be barricaded and there might be some disturbance as well as noise.

Please be also informed that currently partial section of car park area opposite to Arcade is being renovated. It may take a week to complete the work and the area will be closed.
