Brief Bio Data:

 

Qiang Yang is a chair professor at the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where he was a former head of the department and founding director of the Big Data Institute. Between 2012 and 2014, he was the founding director of the Huawei Noah's Ark Research Lab.

His research interests include artificial intelligence including machine learning and data mining. He is a fellow of ACM, AAAI, IEEE, IAPR and AAAS. He received his PhD from the Computer Science Department at the University of Maryland, College Park and was a faculty member at the University of Waterloo and Simon Fraser University. He was the founding Editor in Chief of the ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (ACM TIST) and IEEE Transactions on Big Data. He was the Program Co-chair of ACM KDD 2010 and the General Chair of ACM KDD 2012. He was the PC Chair of IJCAI 2015. In 2017, he received the ACM SIGKDD Distinguished Service Award.

(vi) Change to WhatsApp Backup in Google Drive

Dear users,

 

Due to a new agreement between WhatsApp and Google, WhatsApp backups will no longer count against Google Drive storage quota. However, any WhatsApp backups that have not been updated in more than a year will automatically be removed from storage. This policy will go into effect for all users on November 12, 2018 though some users may see the quota benefits earlier.

 

To avoid the loss of any backups, we recommend that users manually back up WhatsApp before November 12, 2018.

 

Recommended Actions:

1. Confirm that your current Android WhatsApp client is backed up (https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/28000019/?category=5245251)
2. If you would like to refresh any existing backups, please manually back up your WhatsApp client before October 30, 2018

Currently, she is associated with The Department of Tourism Management, School of Tourism and Services University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).
She was the Assistant President for Marketing Communication and International Relations in 2016, The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, International College in 2015 and Department Head of Tourism Management, Business School in 2014 in UTCC. She has been interviewed and featured in a number of Medias in China and Thailand.

(a) Training on Climate Change Downscaling and Hydrological Modelling: 15 – 21 Oct. 2018

 

A training on 'Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing: Climate Change Downscaling and Hydrological Modelling & Time Series Analysis of Hydroclimate and Fisheries' will be organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) from 15-21 October at the AIT Conference Center.

This training is forms a part of the project 'Connecting climate change, hydrology and fisheries for energy and food security in Lower Mekong Basin’  https://www.ait.ac.th/wp-content/uploads/sites/2404/2018/10/Connect_Meko... ( http://connect-chf.com/ ).

'Connecting climate change, hydrology and fisheries for energy and food security in Lower Mekong Basin’ is a three-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by AIT, Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI) and Inland Fisheries Research and Development Institute (IFReDI).

The training on 15-21 October will be witnessed by 25-30 participants from Mekong countries who are working on water resources, climate change, hydropower, agriculture and fisheries sector.

The first module (15-17 Oct) of the training will be led by Arizona State University (ASU) and the second module (18-21 Oct) will be led by AIT.

(i) Improvement project : Cleaning and Painting of Dorm J Building

 

Email from OFAM (11 Oct. 2018)

 

Please be informed that subcontractor will start the improvement project at Dorm J, to clean and paint the exterior and corridors of the building.

Project has started on 12 October 2018 (Friday)
Expected to finish by mid of November 2018.

During this time there may be loud noise and dust around the area work. Residents of Dorm J are requested to close their doors and windows properly. 

Apologies for any inconvenience that it may cause.
